How can we discover our Unique Ability - our talent, driven by our passion; what we love to do and do best?

Part of the Strategic Coach process developed by Dan Sullivan is helping clients identify their Unique Ability.

Why would we want to discover our Unique Ability?

When we know our Unique Ability, we can direct our career to doing what we love in areas where we can make significant contributions to others. When we're in a management position, we can devote more of our time to our Unique Ability and delegate other tasks to people who are more suited to do them.

If that's not possible, we can at least develop that ability in a hobby.

Why don't we instinctively know what our Unique Ability is?

We may be so consumed with our day-to-day activities and the demands of others that we don't observe what our Unique Ability is.

The Strategic Coach process described in Unique Ability 2.0 Discovery includes The Activities Path and The Naming Path. The Activities Path involves evaluating what activities that you do, the time devoted to those activities and your level of competence for them. The Naming Path involves asking your friends, family and co-workers what they think your Unique Ability might be.

Ultimately, you should develop a Unique Ability Statement, distilling your Unique Ability to one sentence, "you in a single statement."
