Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill is one of the best-selling self-improvement books of all time, and has inspired millions to pursue their dreams. It is routinely cited as a guide used by successful entrepreneurs.

Three Feet From Gold presents Think and Grow Rich principles with updated examples.

The title was inspired by a story in Think and Grow Rich about a fellow named R.U. Darby who prospected for gold with his uncle. They bought expensive equipment, but didn't study how to go about it or get advice from experienced prospectors. After some initial success, they ran out of money because they weren't finding more gold. They sold their equipment and mining claim for pennies on the dollar.

The junkman who bought the equipment and claim studied mining and got advice from experienced prospectors. He changed the direction of digging for the gold and struck a huge vein just three feet from where Darby was digging, becoming fabulously wealthy!

The theme is to not give up too quickly, overcome your obstacles, and work with others to achieve your goals.

The story is a parable about the journey of writing the book through a series of interviews with successful entrepreneurs and athletes, and developing a personal success formula.

Some of the individuals who were interviewed and featured include James Amos, founder of Mail Boxes, Etc. (now UPS Stores); Genevieve Bos, founder of Pink magazine; John Hope Bryant, founder of Operation Hope, which promotes financial literacy; Truett Cathy, founder of Chick-fil-A, Inc.; Yvone Fedderson and Sara O'Meara, founders of Childhelp, helping abused children; Debbi Fields, founder of Mrs. Fields Cookies; Mike Helton, President of NASCAR; Evander Holyfield, four-time heavyweight champion boxer; Charlie "Tremendous" Jones, founder of Executive Books; John Schwarz, co-creator of "Super String Theory"; John St. Augustine, Producer of Oprah & Friends; and many more.

The Appendix of the book includes a self-assessment to define your own personal success equation.

If you're already a Napoleon Hill fan, you'll enjoy this update.

If you've thought that, since Think and Grow Rich was first published in 1937, it might be out of date, you might find revisiting these timeless principles with updated examples to be relevant and relatable.
